The Top Reasons You Need a Wireless Backup Camera System on Your Vehicle

Many drivers would prefer to have a wireless backup camera. The primary reason is easy to installation compared to the wired system.

It should be understood, however, that even though it's called a wireless backup camera, it still needs a power source. In this case, it should be attached to the reverse light circuit in order for it to operate when the vehicle is put in reverse.

The camera is ideally positioned above the license plate being in a central location behind the vehicle. Some systems come with an entire frame for the license plate with the camera already attached on the topmost part.

When installing the camera, you need to loosen first the bolts and screws and take off the license plate. Using the holes on the camera, next insert the bolts and screws. Make sure to align the license plate with the camera already mounted before you bolt and screw it to the vehicle.

From there, you need to figure out a good location to connect the cable from the backup camera going to the reverse light circuit. You will have to remove the light bulb from its socket.

The next step would be to connect the right wires. The red wire from the camera should be connected to the reverse light's red wire. You need to do the same for the black wire. Then cover the connection using an insulation tape.

Once the connection has been made, test the wireless backup camera. Turn on your monitor and adjust the camera's angle to make sure that it points to the rear and gets a wide view of the vehicle's rear part.

Being a wireless type, you will be saved from the effort of connecting the wires from the camera to the monitor inside the vehicle. The monitor will function automatically as long as you properly connect the backup camera to the reverse light. It may just involve a transmitter to enable the camera to provide your monitor with a video feed of the rear view.

The monitor component has to be mounted on a location comfortable for your eyes. Common locations are the dashboard, windshield and sun visor. You just have to make sure that it does not block your main view.

Monitors come in various sizes depending on your preference. The smallest LCD screen size measures 2.5 inches while the largest measures around 10 inches. The larger monitors can serve different purposes. You can choose to attach it to your GPS navigation system or your DVD player. In this way, you can view maps and videos or movies when you're in drive mode and not getting a rear view. This is a great option particularly if you want to save space on your dashboard. You have to ensure, however, that you get a quality monitor so your view is clear all the time.
